Greetings to everyone,

I am not sure about the competitiveness of the offer I have got (base salary 15,000 SR/month + housing allowance 25,000 SR/year + transportation allowance 600 SR/month). I have a PhD in Chemical Engineering from a western university + one year postdoctoral experience in Singapore.

Based on your credentials (and based on the pay scales in public universities across KSA), it is competitive. KSU's faculty employment package is here http://www.ksu.edu.sa/Faculty/Estechtab/Pages/default.aspx

If you are looking for a better deal, apply to KAUST at http://www.kaust.edu.sa/academics/faculty/facultypositions.html

The minimum annual base salary is US$100,000 (plus lots of benefits)!

... and what does this statement imply? You get high salary at the expense of your career or what?

Hello Newfact,

Your package may not be as competitive as those from kfupm. You may one to negotiate. It is better to ask before you get there.

Just my 2cents!

Thanks doccan. I have applied to KAUST before one month and still have heard any thing from them.

This might be true for advancing from Lecturer to Full Professor but not from Assistant to Full Professor. Do you have any idea how much is the difference between Assistant Professor base salary and that of Full Professor.

Thanks tiwa. What is the package for someone with my credentials at KFUPM?

KSU's faculty employment package does not include living allowance as it is the case with KFUPM. I thought all governmental universities in KSA should provide similar salaries and benefits for candidates with similar credentials. Is not that right?

If you read Doccan's posts, he indicates that the range at kfupm is $4000 - $6500/month with living and transport allowances already included. Your package may just be at the bottom of this range.

Hi

I think the Package is very good. You should consider it seriously.

Salary 4000 - $6500/month and benefits includes living and transport allowances.
This is great to start with.

Hi newfact,

I've got similar offer for Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry. As they would like me to join KSU even I don't have experience in teaching (but extensive research), I think it's a great offer. I am going to respond positively to the offer.

Newfact and Akli6061: The salary is much better at KFUPM. It's insane to accept such a low salary with your qualifications and experience, and for people in your field.

Inexperienced and under-qualified English teachers working at KSU for the prep-year are being paid more and the majority do not even have an MA. This is confirmed information from one of my friends working at KSU.

The minimum salary KSU should pay you guys is around 20,000 SR/month.
