A lightweight wool skirt suit in a light color should keep you pretty cool (I'd say skirt instead of pants bc you get extra ventilation). Make sure that whatever you wear as a top is breatheable and will not show sweat when you remove your jacket. Perhaps a light gray suit with a blue or lavender top underneath? Or a darker color if you are the sweaty type.

I had an interview somewhere very warm, but was inside in air-conditioned rooms most of the time, so I was happy to be in the light wool.

Since I got my job wearing a black suit and turquoise shell from the Boston Store, and because I have absolutely nothing else to do right now <cough, choke>, I thought I'd share this (page 1 of 2):

I see some pretty nice options here. Too bad shantung would be a little too fancy for an interview. I think I must go shopping very, very soon.

Sorry for double post, but I forgot to mention that the day of my interview was sunny and 80 degrees (F). Except it was in May!

It really is similar to a pinstripe, but if my adviser heard I was wearing white in March, he'd withdraw his letter of recommendation!

Thanks, everyone.

I applaud both you and your advisor's fashion sense. The wearing of spring colors before Easter is the downfall of civilization, I tell you. Sadly, this memo has not reached the tropical states. But the good news for you is that since they are all fashion heathens down there, your light colors will be absolutely acceptable.

The orthodoxy around this sort of thing is so odd.  I can't decide whether to find it insulting, irritating, or quaint.  I'll go with quaint.

I'd offer fashion advice, but I'm not the kind of person you (or one, to be honest) would want to go to for fashion advice.  Be comfortable, professional, and confident.  Good luck!

I found a very nice khaki suit from Banana Republic. Whether or not I got the job, I looked alright!

Suit shopping is a pain. I went into Ann Taylor; it isn't really my favorite store, but I was surprised by how cheap all their suits looked. They just screamed "polyester." One of the nice department stores had hardly any suits at all. And of course with every new brand it was a guessing game as to what size I should wear - everything from a 2 (that was still too big) to an 8.
