Germany appears to be going on a hiring spree, with some tantalizing job ads.
Any insight to offer regarding the University of Konstanz? I gather this one is very different from Tübingen -- founded in 1966, very "modern" buildings, etc. Since it is one of the "universities of excellence", it seems possible they are doing something right.
Anyway I have read through some of the web site but would be grateful for comments on the character of the place, what it's like to work or study there, etc.

In most disciplines, Konstanz is one of the best places to be in Germany. The uni styles itself a "research university" and they manage to foster interdisciplinary cooperation among staff. Plus, while the campus is nothing spectacular, Konstanz itself is a beautiful town on the shores of Lake Constance, with the Alps in the background...
I'd take a job there in a heartbeat.
