Hey, medievalists--and partners of medievalists, of course!

The catalogues are arriving!

Anyone going who'd like to get together at some point during the conference?

Or if you have discussions, comments or other communications--feel free to put them here.

I'll be there.  Assuming I can find some brave soul to medicate the cat while I'm away.

But a simple fora get together is too straightforward.  I think we should wear masks to the dance and have sinister anonymous encounters.

There probably aren't enough early dance historians presenting this time to do a Caroso ball, but we could all do blue rhino masks in triangles, maybe...!

Yep, I got the catalogs for Kalamazoo and Leeds on the same day -- a medieval studies extravaganza!

I'll be there.  Should we have a secret way to recognize one another?

There's that blue rhinoceros triangle thing that's floating around.

I'm midway through listening to a Teaching Company audiobook on the High Middle Ages.  I know the difference between scholasticism and monasticism now.  Whee!

I'll be there.  I'll be one of the medieval Islamic contingent and hate parties, so you'll see me cringing away from the scripted social gatherings.  I'm certainly down with a gathering of the fora inhabitants, however!  My best mask would be a niqab....

So--a lunch? breakfast? dinner?

The campus is pretty extensive, so even with the shuttle buses, it might be good to look at who's where when if we want to gather at some point.

Suggestions?

oops--bumped the "post" thingy...

So far it's: Malcha, sinenomine, mended_drum, untenured, lenniel, and me.

Others?

On or off-campus (I won't have a car; others?)

Oh no I can't come.  I'm no medieval type.  I am with you in spirit though.  What more fun can there be than to chat with one's fellow form dwellers.

Aww, too bad, it would be fun to meet you anyway!

(Us medieval types are pretty oecumenical)

I hear such fun things about this conference every year from colleagues that I've been seriously considering shifting my research focus by a few hundred years just to have an excuse to go.

Have a blast!

It's been variously described as a county fair, a scholastic feast and--for those in jobseeking mode--a 'meat market'...and it's probably a little bit of all of those.

But the meetings and greetings are truly profitable...what's a century among friends?

(Also, thinking of medievalists' events soon to occur, there's an upcoming MAA meeting in CT in March...)
