I am sorry to hear that you never got your reimbursement. I recently did an on campus interview and I filed the form. But it happened like this... when I had a few min. in between my interview schedule, I told the SC that I will use the time to file the form to get reimbursement. There was a bit of shock or surprise on that person's face--as if I was too daring to ask. Hmmm. In any case, I filed it and I am hoping to get mine after hearing your story. I am not sure why they want to reimburse the money... why not just have it paid by the school? i mean, usually faculty members drop you off and pick you up at the hotel, why not have them also pay as well? I don't get it.

I don't know about an average time, but my story might make you feel better. I was the last candidate to come to campus, and just found out last week that I got the job, 1.5 months after my interview.

I did an on-campus at SUNY-Somewhere in 2001.  I am still waiting for both word on what they decided and for reimbursement of travel costs.  There seems to be someone in "that job" on the website so I guess it "worked out" for them---the reimbursement?  I stopped asking after one year in the interests of my mental health.

BTW, our own searches which generally run like clockwork have *both* been extended by more than a week during this season because of weather problems causing the second of three in both searches to have to turn around and come in a week or so later....sometimes the search gets delayed.

That is 2 of us stiffed on travel costs.  Mine was also several years ago.  I gave up trying to collect but I could still use the 600 bucks.  After a campus interview, I give up hope and give up grieving right at 2 months.  I try not to remember where I sent applications.

I highly encourage you guys to state explicitly which school never reimbursed you. It's so unethical and should NEVER happen...you should post it on Universities to Fear page on Wiki. Otherwise, this could happen to others as well.
