Y'all are smarter than me. I called the Dell folk in Delhi, but the techie figured out to hit preview and also rid my PC of all kinds of viruses and restored my sound.
Say what you want about Dell. They have a great help desk even if you do have to wait forever to get someone.

My computer has a built-in immune system. It's called "Macintosh."

Dr. Anakin sits high and mightily in her office while she condemns students to lives of misery and drudgery, washing out their husbands' underwear in filthy water. In addition, she is a horrible teacher. She welcomes you to Introduction to Biology!

For what they cost, they ought to come in gold. An equivalent Mac to my dell would probably be 5 or 6K.

When I get a PM, the system is no longer alerting me at the top near "My Messages."
Is this happening to anyone else?
I just have to remember to check my messages and see if anything has come in.

Mine's finally back to normal. I was beginning to wonder whether the Mods thought 10,000+ from me was 10,000+ too many.

Because, you know, that stuff on the syllabus is like, in writing, and there are so many ways you can, like, read that, but when the guys who sit by you in class, like, you know, must know what's really going on, right? -- AmLitHist, channelling student

I just thought I'd mention that last night I discovered the only workaround that worked for me.
Compose, hit "post," hit the refresh button on my browser, then a screen comes up with a "retry" option, click that, and voila.
I would have to agree..thanks If you are going to be a spammer, you should know how to post your links properly.
