I'd appreciate any comments/thoughts on the above as a place to work from any current/former staff or students on the fora...second hand info welcome too (I'll take any perspectives). Much obliged!

Their faculty are really really nice people! The students there are nicely treated, but they have to pay for even breathing the air (according to one of their medical students). And I like their library.

My FIL worked there for at least 5 years, maybe more like 8. He is a researcher (although not a PhD) and liked it. He left in large part because of the commute for him (he lived way in the burbs).

Thanks for replying! I got the same feeling about the faculty on a recent visit. Nice to know others concur.

Never would have thought of Syracuse as having a nasty commute...must have been waaaaaaay out in the burbs :)  then again, I hear it does "tend" to snow there so maybe that was part of it.

Thanks for replying!

I can't really say more because it could be obvious who it was, but let me say that the situation was insane.
