Hi All,

Because I'm obsessive, I had a look at last year's Wiki to see what kind of timetable we're looking at for on-campus interviews. Keep in mind that last year's meeting ran January 2-5, and this year's was 7-10, so everything is going to be off by five days.

It looks like the biggest wave of invitations to campus came after January 13, which we might be able to translate to the 18th, and continued to the 24 or so.

If you are going to obsess, you should also check when your interviewing school comes back in session. A late start likely means a late invitation.

Good luck all!

First-round interviews often (usually?) end with the SC giving a brief outline of the hiring timeline ("our semester starts in two weeks, we'll invite about three candidates to campus shortly thereafter," or somesuch).

Unfortunately, at this stage the wiki becomes less useful, both because it's likely that none of the on-campus invitees will post the news, and because even if they do, that does not necessarily mean that others have been eliminated (if the first set of on-campus interviews don't pan out, there may be more). If you had a first-round interview, don't assume you're out until you get a rejection letter.

Amen to t_r_b.

Also bear in mind that things often take longer than the committee thinks they will. A few years ago our search was delayed a week when a snow storm closed campus for a day and a half, and the dean caught a cold.

Any estimates on how often searches go to a second group of candidates? I'd say 1/3 to 1/2, so there will be a lot of February invitations.
