Any knowledge of the college? I grew up in New England so I know New Hampshire winters are cold, fall is beautiful, spring is damp, and summer is short. Any other info would be appreciated. Non-TT job teaching a couple of business disciplines.

New London is a really pretty, quiet little town with lovely, well-maintained old homes on the main street. There are some good restaurants, brew pubs, and a nice independent bookstore (I hope it's still open). You'd be close to skiing areas and Lake Sunapee, which is beautiful for swimming and kayaking in the summer. There's also a big hospital there and you're not terribly far from the medical school and hospital at Dartmouth. (Dartmouth is about 45 minutes up I-89) Easy access to the highway to get down to the Manchester airport. I think CS is ranked maybe 2nd tier; I have some friends whose kids went there and really liked it, and a friend on the faculty likes it too. I don't know much about housing costs, but property taxes in NH are super-high compared to Vermont (you pay for that no sales tax/no income tax somewhere!).

A friend of mine used to work there. If I recall his summary correctly, it is very much a teaching college with a high teaching load. Students were average to above average, a good SLAC, but certainly not elite. Absolutely beautiful area of New Hampshire, but not near anything remotely resembling civilization. This was a couple of years ago, hopefully someone provides more recent info.

I know it well. I used to live there. New London is a wonderful little town in the "Lakes Region" of NH. Very nice people. Three lakes in the town itself and several others within a short drive. Near Sunapee Ski area. Very pretty. Tourist town. I think the population doubles or so in the summer. Good local schools. If the town feels too small for you to live in it is a pretty easy commute up (or down) a rural highway to Concord or Hanover. It is certainly worth the visit (particulary if they are treating!) Make sure you plan a trip to Concord and/or Manchester so that you have a feel for other living areas if NL doesn't suit your taste.
Colby-Sawyer was an all-girls college for many years. I think it went co-ed 15 or so years ago?
Yes, spring is not the best season in northern New England but the other three seasons make it all worth it!
