I had a friend who was asked what sort of service to the university she would be most interested in—tough question if you aren’t familiar with the typical committee structures.
I got that one, too, but in an in-person interview.

what are your expectations from this job? What could we do to make this job the ideal job for you?"
I have an interview today so I am reviewing these questions. I have never gotten those two, Apollo. I will have to think about them. If I get any new questions I will post them here.

Phone Interview Questions
1. What research focus would you pursue to maximize our Department’s value in the eyes of our local lodging industry partners? That is, what research outcomes do you think ___________ hoteliers would find most useful to their operations and how would you go about accomplishing said research?
2. What classes currently offered by the department would you feel comfortable teaching? What class in a perfect world would you like to add to our current offerings?
3. Which faculty members’ research do you think best aligns with your own and, as such, how might you envision research collaboration with our faculty members?

Dang! I hope you had good crib sheets on the other faculty members. I also hope I don't get this question.

[/quote How hard is it to look at the professors CVs online and get a sense of what is being done at the school? Man a quick google scholar search should be able to tell you all you need to know. As a search committee member, I want a person who is going to do their homework and know something about the school and department to which they are applying. CTG

Questions from today (and totally new questions to me): What have you found hardest about teaching?
How have you translated your face-to-face class into non-traditional experiences? (Online.)
What have you found challenging about teaching?
Discuss how your philosophy shows up in one of your assignments.
Discuss how your teaching values process and product.
What have you done that is collaborative and interdisciplinary?
What have you specifically contributed to your community and college beyond your teaching?

Dang! I hope you had good crib sheets on the other faculty members. I also hope I don't get this question. I've never had that one, but I have been asked which local partners I'd explore for grants. Um...

I had a question along the lines of: When do you fail a student versus offer them another opportunity?
Today's questions included a twice-asked: What negatives have you found in teaching with technology?

The only one that really stumped me in my only phone interview (and I really should have been ready):
*What should an undergraduate get out of an education in this field?
You can bet I have a good answer to that one for next time.
