As someone who is moderately conservative, and Christian, let me be the first to cast a hairy eyeball at this effort.

And yet Kathleen Parker discussed the "purity test" in her column on Tuesday.  Apparently the Republicans are in as much disarray as the Democrats.

Yes, I didn't complete the thought.  Sorry.  It's just that self-identified conservatives are really going nutso, biblically and politically.

Conservatives are going nutso in the biblical sense?  That explains David Vitter, et al.

Oh, and Jesus' did not have women in his inner circle.  Martha was right when she complained about Mary sitting at Jesus' feet while she, Martha, prepared the banquet.  Liberals put in the line, "Mary has chosen the better part."  Get to work, Mary!

I would like to know what religion Andy follows.  His mother is a Catholic and in Catholicism tampering with the Bible is forbidden.  You need an imprimatur to publish your own translation.  Removing passages is worthy of excommunication.

Have they removed:  "do not kill" from the 10 commandments yet?
I was thinking about Isiah 2 and Micah 4.  An utopia where people don't bear arms?  It must be a mistranslation!
So, gentle forumites, especially those among us studying religion, would you please help the whack-jobs well-intentioned people of the Conservative Bible Project, with a more appropriate translation.  To aid you, I have put the original Hebrew version (with vowels) of Isiah 2:4:

Another good one from Exodus 22:24 which is a prohibition on taking any interest on a loan.  Again, the original Hebrew:

Probably won't be popular with conservative bankers, so they'll need help translating that one, as well.

I'll bring some more next time.

To paraphrase an old SNL Weekend Update:

"We have here an official statement from God:  'I do not know who these people are.  I have not spoken to them, and I wish that they would quit using my name.'"
