We better find out soon, before they pass another trillion dollar bill through congress on the basis of all the so-called "research" on the subject. They're calling it "Climategate" on the news. Apparently they have uncovered a real bona-fide conspiracy between scientists, government, and industry to manufacture data to support their hypotheses and bury data that refutes it. One of the leading climate study institutes in the world is implicated, as are several major universities and government officials. Here's the top Google cite on the news: http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/jamesdelingpole/100017760/climategate-reminds-us-of-the-liberal-lefts-visceral-loathing-of-open-debate/. There's a lot more than that, for instance: http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2009/11/24/g-warming-promoter-dismayed-deeply-shaken-climategate. The whole world's abuzz over this today. There's even a Wikipedia entry on the subject already. I'm shocked that I'm the first fora member to notice this. Is global warming and climate change another lie peddled by the left in their decades-long culture war on society? Have they been using glabal warming to scare the bejeezus out of everybody so they can peddle their "green" agenda? Al Gore, seeming more and more like a "green" hypocrite, is certainly turning a handsome profit off of all they hype. Perhaps after all these years, it is becoming apparent that their war on culture is really more about money, greed, and power rather than the seemingly noble goal to "save the planet"? mad_doctor's $0.02: Global warming/ climate change is a big lie, and it always has been. It's one of the instruments of the left to get rich by controlling our society. Shame on the so-called "scientists" who are involved in this. I expect government bureacrats and elected officials to lie to the People to preserve their power, but scientists? Every one of them should be rounded up and banned from academia for life.

I heard about a medical study somewhere that was falsified, and I've refused to go to the doctor ever since.

Arrrrgh!!! Does anyone here have guy-skills? The charcoal will be ready for cooking a lot sooner if I don't have to start it myself!

Alternatively, you could wait for global warming to do the job for you. <starts pouring the interthreadual three-buck chuck>

Perhaps not. All the MD's I know spent lots of time during their training in libraries doing research and learning to evaluate sources of information before applying it to decisions about treatments for their patients.

Glad I could lighten your day. I'm not that kind of doctor. This is serious news, though. Lots of people are going to lose their jobs over this, both academics and government employees. There are American universities and professors involved in this. Part of this mess is the destruction of data that was requested by a FOIA.

Alright, I'll just back off and watch while the news continues to break, and you all go on poo-pooing this. There's going to be huge fallout over this, lot's of bloodletting, and dead bodies all over the place.
BTW, bloggers are much better journalists than anything you get in the New York TImes these days. It may be another month or so before the NYT starts to report this.
