I'd like to start a thread on depictions of fans and fandom, basically brainstorming for a possible syllabus I'm constructing. Where would I post that? SHOULD I post something like that, or does that violate the netiquette of this site?

If you're looking primarily to solicit ideas for a reading list, you might try "We Speak Volumes".  Otherwise, for more general suggestions about how to approach the material, I'd go with "In the Classroom".

P.S.  Just to be clear -- I'm not a moderator.  I've just spent a whole lot of time hanging around the forum.   :)
Good luck with your course!
