Cranefly, I'm curious... why do you think these careers would be open to convicted felons?

Well, I'm Canadian... we don't have "felonies" here. We have "indictable offenses". My brother was convicted of one, and now holds a job in one of the fields I've mentioned, so I figured it would be the same in the States. Not working with kids, but working with adults, in a sports-medicine related field.

This is interesting!  In the US, a felony conviction (especially those involving violence) would preclude someone from certification/ re-certification in sports medicine (our Certified Athletic Trainer, ATC, is comparable to your Athletic Therapist).

Yes, I'm learning a lot from this post. Americans are very unforgiving! As you can see from my above post, having what would be classed as felonies does not preclude you even from working in politics here.

I know it precludes one from working as a paramedic (they might have to work with children), but generally speaking, AFAIK, other medical professions are up to the discrepancy of the certification boards, who can be generous/lenient with the right amount of penance and humility.

Oh yeah--Professor Sparkle Pony. "Follow your dreams, young genius, and you will meet with success!" Students eat that up.
