I lurve my roomba.

I do. It's upstairs bumping around now, making my house look like the maid's been. I'm convinced it also abrades carpeting -- I don't think the wad of dust it manages to pick up each time is mostly from the air -- but it's incredible what a difference it makes. I think one of the most demoralizing housekeeping things has been that by the time I've picked up to vacuum, there's no time to vacuum, so there's always crap on the floor. Now, thanks to $130 robot, no crap.
Plus it makes cute sounds and LT likes to follow it around giving directions. It's not quite Robbie, but it'll do.

My mom got one for Christmas last year, and she loves it too.

Me too! Got one for the Pad and let me tell you, I'm keeping it!
Plus, it tickles bare toes. And works well on non-carpeted surfaces.
Haven't had a chance to see how it does going on and off rugs; will report back...

I'd love one, but I'm afraid 1) it would freak out the parrot and 2) the dog hair would kill the Roomba.

Now all you have to worry about is the parrot:
