Aw shucks, Prytania. I'm not an "uptight prig." I just don't like the taste of alcohol. I've tried every fruity, frilly drink I could find. Everything from a peach bellini to an appletini. The booze overwhelms everything. I have an extremely sensitive sense of taste (I can taste food coloring).  But because most people translate "I don't like the taste of alcohol" into "I am an ignorant, uptight prig," I usually just politely decline the booze and enjoy another beverage, as many of you helpful people have suggested that I do.

Yeah, and even if you can tolerate the fruity frilly drinks, how much can you really drink? I mean, I wouldn't drink two slurpees in one sitting. I am not giving up, though. I am still looking for an alcoholic beverage of which I can enjor >1.5 servings. (Well, either that or a respectable pot/'shroom dealer.)

I don't drink during interviews, and it's never been an issue. Just handle it graciously and don't make a big deal out of it. "Wine? Oh, no thanks. Could I get an iced tea?" If they press, you can always make a light joke about it -- "It's been a long day; I'm afraid I'd fall asleep on you."

The SC is trying to show their hospitability. If they get weird about drinking, that's a red mark against them.
