Quick SoP Question.
«

I am applying to transfer to a PhD program in order to work with a certain professor whose research interests align with my own. Because I am only applying to one school, with a very specific purpose, is it OK to say something like, "If admitted, I would be committed to going to ________(school name)," or does that make me sound over-the-top and crazy-obsessed?
I do mean it quite seriously. I would be funded. There is no doubt that I would say "yes" if accepted.
Thanks for the advice.

In your statement, you should say that you applying to this program to work with this professor, which you think is the best fit for your interests.

Well, yes. That will be explained in careful detail, including reference to my meeting with her. This professor mentioned that it would be important to demonstrate my commitment to the program. I'm just wondering if saying something along the lines of, "If accepted, I'll go" is speaking too plainly.

I don't think it's over the top. I think by saying this is your top choice, then that says you will go if accepted.

As long as you make a strong, serious case for working with that specific professor, I think it's a good idea.
