Anyone know why Mercer has so many job openings in the education department?

Wouldn't it be either high turnover or rapid expansion? I would guess the first.

I don't know about education, but in my field, Mercer had a reputation as dramatic and unstable (high turnover, nobody really in charge, etc). That was before they ran one of the more egregiously fake search I've ever seen last year.* In my field, at least, you'd have to be either desperate for a first job or know you have three years to live (and therefore don't care about tenure) to apply there.
* I know the "fake search" thing gets thrown around a lot, but lookit: They posted an add, collected materials, and then sent out letters saying the search had been canceled for financial reasons. Then a couple of weeks later, they sent out letters announcing the hire of an inside candidate. Oddly enough, that's the only "baby announcement" rejection letter I've ever personally seen. You'd think if they were going to sidestep the whole interview process, they'd at least do it quietly.

I know someone who is on the TT there in a STEM field. This person is in a position to take a similar job elsewhere, and will likely do so in the next year or two.

I have a friend in social sciences who left Mercer last year over "unkept promises."

I was wondering this, as well. However, when I looked up the ranking, etc. it looked solid enough to apply. I applied for more than one of the positions, as some were in different locations. I have a couple directions my experience and degree can go (ABD, finishing spring). But I would really love to know more about education there. I figure, once again, it never hurts to try and see what "feeling" you get. Anyone know the inside track on education?
