Hi der-gadfly,

This is the end of the line for my posting on this forum.  I am planning to contact The Chronicle to report the activity on this post, to remove this post and close my account.  Oddly enough, I got a strange call from some number in Virginia this afternoon.  So, I suspect it was one of the folks who posted here.  Simply put, I run a business, you are educators.  I thought this was a forum to get some ideas based on what I've seen in the marketplace.  But instead it turned into a volley of attacks.

Originally, my contact information was posted.  I was not spamming as some of you accused me of.  Due to the phone call, I decided to change my personal data to avoid any further reprisals from this group in any way.  I now see that I do not belong in this forum.  You are academia and I am business - the two do not mix well together.

Lastly, one more time - if I offended anyone, that was not the intention.  And please if you do not have something nice to say, please keep it to yourself. It really debases the value of the service The Chronicle provides to your group.

Good luck and happy holidays.

Please use standard English grammar, capitalization, etc. as you depart in a huff from this academic forum.

Not a problem folks.  I reported this post to the editor and the web producer.  Hopefully they will remove it and stop the insanity.

You get a call from an unknown number, and the only hypothesis you can come up with for their identity is that it's someone who encountered you on an internet forum?

I'm glad I'm not you.

But thanks for bolding part of your GCF! That was thoughtful.

On preview: Ooh, do I get to kill this one?

When you said "later", I was hoping that you meant "much later".  Let me explain something - spammers offend me by their mere presence.  Got that?  Furthermore, I did not have the disadvantage of a polite upbringing, so the concept of "if you do not have something nice to say, please keep it to yourself" is foreign to me.  About as foreign as the concepts of  "don't hang around where you're not wanted", and "no soliciting" are to you.  So you may want to find a forum with lower standards to peddle your wares.

Anyway, I do not sit in the hallowed halls of academe.  I've been busy changing lives for the better for the last 25 years in the corporate world.  The last company I built was sold for enough money that I was able to take some time off.  I sat around for 2 years watching this economy disintegrate.

During that two-year period, I spent time keeping informed of the current issues in education overall and from that, decided to build another company once again.  And once again, I am creating jobs.  There are 15 people working with me, who are seeking ways to improve the lives of people who need direction in attaining their higher education.

Very impressive.  Especially for someone's who's only:

Yes, and he's independently wealthy - that's why he provided links to a corporate site, and why he is trying to sell stuff online.  I would guess that he's providing the bio of his boss, and he is one of the 15 spammers working for said boss.

Spammers have one purpose in life - to make telemarketers look respectable.

My God, what a hat.

I now see that I do not belong in this forum.

You got that right.
