Can someone hand me a large alcoholic drink and then pretend that I am not here and the world doesn't exist?

Me too, please. thank you.

Me three! There aren't enough puppies in the world right now to fix everything.

Well, I'm curled up with a cat who has dog issues, so you can have my share of the puppies.

Tonight feels like a cat night for some reason. They're much more fun to curl up with.

Sssshhh! Y'all are making me want a drink, even though I'm trying not to have alcohol on work nights.

Creeps in... This is a place where we can hide from tomorrow & work, which means we can drink tonight MG.  There is no such thing as a "work night" is there is no "work" tomorrow.

*Tosses grading on the fire, and settles down with a frosty brew, a pile of blankets, some puppies, and a book that is not related to work*

Oh, I love the glow of a warm, toasty fire.  Thanks, glowdart (living up to your moniker, I see).

I'm hiding from the mountain of grading that has piled up while I've been working on this grant proposal. <pulls blankie up over head>

I'm hiding from the online anxiety assessment I just took where I answered "yes" to 9 out of 10 questions. Apparently if I answer 3 as yes, I might have an anxiety disorder that I should go see someone about.

Now, I'm pretty sure I'm just a first year non-tt prof with a 3/3 load at a new school in a new town, but I guess it can't hurt to go see someone. Blech.

prof_smartypants, I told you. The bourbon. The bonbons.

I recommend bourbon and bonbons for that.

Yes yes, I know. But both of them make me rather fat, and I'm really trying to limit the amount of booze I consume (it's already pretty bad - two drinks a night; many more on weekends).

But I do so love manhattans. And bonbons.

Perhaps tonight I'll make another apple tart and wash it down with some Knob creek.

Nothing makes you fat on The Hiding Thread. Enjoy all you like without fear. IRL I haven't been drinking because I can't have alcohol with the medicine I'm taking. However, I will have a shot of bourbon on this thread. (Just not right now; I'm still drinking my morning coffee.)

You know what I want? Those Nutter Butter Peanut Patties (not the sandwich cookies), which apparently they don't make any more.

Rose, put the bourbon *in* your coffee. Problem solved.

Great idea, GlowDart.  Nothing feeds a fire like a stack of grading.
