We unionized at the City College of Chicago about 5 years ago and it makes a difference.  Before then, we got no salary increases.  Now we get 2% a year.  We did not have access to health insurance or the private pension, now we do.
I'm happy all around.

The university where I adjunct makes it impossible to even know who the adjuncts are. No phone directory (since we have no university phone numbers) or faculty rosters available to us. There are faculty rosters, but they are just posted on a site that adjuncts cannot access. There simply is no way to contact adjuncts, and with multiple campuses in several cities, paying for newspaper ads would be a waste of money.
