Sacroilitis thread

It was killing me today. Any fellow sufferers? Not much to do about it other than ibuprofen, short of much more unpleasant alternatives.

Okay, this is sad. I had to look this up. I don't know if this is one of my problems or not. I know I have a bulging disc at the L5S1 location and that my sacrum is crooked, which could cause this. Not fun, whatever. I've found a proper mattress can help my issue. Pain meds don't work for me much unless I don't mind being unconscious.

For years I thought my back pain was muscular. I thought I kept "putting out my back." No matter what I did, I always took precautions, bent knees when lifting something, stretched before exercising, and I kept "throwing out" my back. And then I complained to a relatively new GP about it, he pointed to two points in my back, asking "does it hurt here? And here?" And I said, "Yes! Exactly! How did you know?" "Sacroilitis," he said.
Now, I could get injections--- that's the less fun way of dealing with it. But, big huge slams of ibuprofen usually does the trick.

Ah. I wish ibuprofen did the trick. I have nerves being impinged. When it gets bad, the shots are the only thing that works. I just hate the side effects.

I take my SI joint to a chiropractor about once a month. Having it whacked back into place leaves me pain-free and with better posture for a few weeks. When it goes bad again, I go back. Yes, it's an endless loop, but the MDs don't have anything better to offer other than painkillers, and having the SI joint put back in place eliminates the need for the painkillers.
I also do a few specific yoga positions to try to keep the SI in place. There's a discussion on another thread somewhere here with them listed, I'll see if I can dig it up. I'm having a hard time searching for it at the moment so I'll try again later.
