At first I thought this was nothing, but I totally agree to err on the side of caution. Better to be safe than regretful.  One of my cousins has stabbing headaches from some weird bundle of nerves (all benign) but since you don't know, I'd definitely take SO to doctor, with you in the office, as well. 

Before a surgery I had years ago, I took my SO with me to two very scary appointments.  It helps to have a second set of ears, for sure.  You can do this, as well.
