On a more personal level, I've seen a number of relationships founder because one partner couldn't or wouldn't adjust to Aber. If you take this post you must be certain that both you and your wife can cope with the cultural and physical isolation of Aber, as it's three long hours to civilisation in every direction. Oh, and does she hate rain? If she does, she will loathe Aberystwyth.

Hmm -- it's two and a half hours to Cardiff (driving).

Only if you persistently break the speed limit ;-)

This is nothing compared to 4,000 miles to civilization from the place where I live now :)

I was an UG there. Some friends once drove to Swansea to have a Macdonald's.

What kind of job would she be looking for?  Is she an academic, too?

She is an assistant professor of architecture and design. So, an appropriate place for her would be Art department

There's one next to the station nowadays!

I'm still not certain whether that counts as progress ;-)

Personally, I was much keener on the steak sarnies at the Cambrian.

If they do not have MacDonald's, it should be a great place!
