Further State-Budget Cuts Loom

I read the CHE article:
http://chronicle.com/article/Further-State-Budget-Cuts-Loom/47448/
I couldn't get the link to the chart to work (which was sort of torturous--how bad is my state? click. denied. click. denied.)
So I looked up the Center mentioned in the piece and looked at those charts.

Now, I just want to cry in the corner and rock back and forth. (
Please don't lay me off!

How is your state budget looking?

Say things to administrators such as "Do you have any data to support that?"

My state is one of the "DK" states... as in we don't know just how screwed we will be..

My state looks awful - and I don't think they had all the data! Virginia is messy now, and the state and its agencies seem clueless in knowing how to respond. For example, in response to a several hundred million dollar shortfall, the department of transportation responded by closing the rest stops on the freeways to the tune of basically a handful of change. Just one example, but classic in that every step the Commonwealth has taken to address budget issues has been very public yet very limited in terms of addressing the $$$. Everyone here thinks that (1) God help us if this is how they think we can run a state, and (2) that it is a political ploy ("look, we can't even keep the toilets open...") to prepare us for (wait for it) yet another major tax increase.... I have no faith in our current administration here to handle this. Don't know how it will affect our U though....
