I'm looking at both sides of the health care plan.  Web searches result in an overwhelming barrage of negative studies, reports, articles and posts.  Reading these sources makes the health care plan sound like the next holocaust.  Can anyone recommend link(s) that describe the health care plan relatively simply and present the benefits relative to the status quo?  The whitehouse website does not help much and neither does barackobama.com

Thanks,

It seems to me the health plan provides another publicly funded option for people to use instead of private health care plans.

I haven't seen any alternative coming from the opposition to how so many people who aren't covered by the private plans will get health insurance.Nor how those who have health care through the private plans, but are denied covdrage, will get covered.

But I guess that isn't what you are looking for, is it?

To me, it is all about helping others who are denied health care, even if I, or whomever, is covered.  In other words, it is a moral and philosophical question, not a question of details.

There are many components of health reform - cost being just one.

First, I would argue that it's important to understand that there are some important differences in the concerns of experts (those who consider the system as a whole) and the public (the individual perspective):

A fairly dispassionate look at the issue of costs:

With regard to costs, Paul Krugman's columns consistently make the case for the Obama plan - e.g.

and

I hope this helps.

I was under the impression that Obama does not have a health plan per se, merely a few talking points that senators and representatives are trying to piece together, each in their own way. That is, Obama did not send a bill for legislators to consider, but rather asked the legislators to work on a few areas.

BTW, my understanding of the current wording is that it is mandatory for Medicare to cover what people are calling "end of life counseling" NOT for people to participate in it.

Thanks thus far.  Anything that's not a tome and not weighed down with political invective is appreciated.

Mr. Krugman gets a little frisky in the NYT article don't he.
