Never been in your shoes, lemonbar, but we are almost the same age. I will be praying for you and the little lemonbar to come!  Congratulations!

Congratulations lemonbar!  I had implantation bleeding with both of my pregnancies, which were during my thirties.   In fact, with my second pregnancy, I had what appeared to me to be a normal menstrual cycle, followed by spotting a month later--made it hard to pinpoint the due date.

Best wishes to you and your growing family!

Au contraire, Larry, let's tell it like it is.  Sex at 45+ is way better than in the callow 20s.

I am close to the big 40 myself, I was just channeling those I deal with every day with birthdays as late as 1991...

Don't worry, mayjohn, I thought it was funny, and assumed you were doing just that :)

BAH! The morning sickness is really kicking in. I want to barf and then go to sleep. But, I have to write lectures for my new class in the fall! So I'm in my office, chugging sprite and trying to keep lunch down.

Maybe I'll eat some crackers.

Congratulations!

Just adding that I knew someone who had twins at the age of 50.  Perfectly healthy.  I agree that it's cultural -- when women had 10+ children, they would be bearing children into their forties and beyond.  We have better health overall now, and this isn't a first child (I seem to vaguely remember that that ups the risk), so I wouldn't worry too much.  Just talk to your doctor.

I had a friend who said that there's a window in the first few days of pregnancy when alcohol has no effect (she was pregnant at the time -- I think her doctor told her this).  Anyone know if this is true?
