Do the techs also have the fixed page width on their to-do list? I can't shrink the width of my browser window without loosing content on the forum page because the width of the forum page is fixed rather than set to be a percentage of the page width. It is rather annoying at times.
Considering that the pages are a rat's nest of divs and tables, and considering that all of the styles have been placed directly in the element tags (where they have to be painstakingly changed one by one on each page) rather than into a .CSS stylesheet (where they only have to be changed once in the stylesheet file itself), I'd bet that we're going to have to live with bad formatting for a while longer.

You have to wonder what idiot came up with that idea? A separate stylesheet is such a simple thing to do!

Is anyone else having trouble with bookmarks on the jobs page?
I have one (History) that works just fine. But if I bookmark Academic Affairs, I just get a completely blank page. On the other hand, Administration says it's got 72 positions, but it won't show any of them.
Not loving the new site.

To echo Airball's comment, I'm still finding that the job search area doesn't function properly. Bookmarks don't work, I can't get jobs to sort by date, and it's still hard to find certain categories that don't display on the main jobs page. CHE staff, I don't mean to be nasty, but I do hope that you're still listening and will continue to take these concerns into consideration.

9 times out of 10 when I come here from my bookmark the page hangs up just above the masthead and I have to hit "reload" to see it. Not the end of the world but annoying and I often end up going somewhere else and doing other things. I don't have this problem on other sites, haven't had it before with the forum (old) site and I don't think it is my computer as I've had it happen on other computers and on other ISP connections.

OK, when I get pitched out to the login screen (as I just did here at work, trying to log in for the first time since Friday on this machine), and I use the middle login part that has an option for "always stay logged in" or somesuch, I am told USERNAME DOES NOT EXIST. HMPH! Octoprof does exist and here I am to prove it!

So I go to the job page and enter "Humanities" for a search, and get (among many others)...
Volleyball coach Dance instructor
Nowhere on these pages does the word "Humanities" exist. "Human Resources" yes, but no "Humanities."
Note: These are not the same.
I want my old page back.

When I start Explorer (7) at the beginning of a day or after a reboot or whatever, all I see at the top of the forums page is the bar at the top that says "premium content." The rest of the page only shows after I do a manual page reload. I don't understand that. That was July 25th. Now it's September 3rd. Nothing has changed with regard to this problem.

That's not an error. Those are the only remaining humanities jobs in the country. Apply to both.

Wouldn't it be easier to click on the category "Humanities"?

I posted before about the CV Doctor archives now being behind a subscription wall. I just searched again and found an article open, here http://chronicle.com/article/The-CV-Doctor-Returns/45037/But the links on the page, to all the CVs they reviewed, are broken. How about you go through the archives, and fix all the links so they go to the planned new locations. Then you get a few work study students to test the whole site to see it's all working. You can do that before you release the bug-riddled beta version as the "live" version. Oops, too late. And the job section is as the others have said, a total fiasco. I mean, Christ on a bike, it was probably the most popular section of the site, was fully functional (was anyone complaining?), and you've deliberately built a site to remove functionality. Just switch it back. Your users will thank you.

Wouldn't it be easier to click on the category "Humanities"? I do that too, but I'm also looking for jobs as director of a Humanities or Classics center, which (depending on the whims of someone not in Humanities or Classics) might or might not get into the Faculty category. They are also in the Admin side of things, and I have a lot of trouble getting those jobs to appear on my screen.

Why can't the user specify that the search term be used as-is, not a partial match, and in the job title rather than somewhere in the text? Even putting quotation marks around "humanities" doesn't stop the search engine from matching that word to "human resources."

I'm a bit curious. Is the new jobs page supposed to work better or differently than the old one? If the page stopped working in the context of improving it adding new features (not that there was anything wrong with the old one) I might be more understanding but this does not seem to be the case. If someone not in the CHE's employ had done this, we'd call it vandalism and demand criminal prosecution. airball
