Dear all,

I am scheduled to have my first phone interview for the Principal position in one of the Canadian institutions this friday. I am very anxious about it since I don’t really know what questions to expect. So far, I reviewed their school website, reread the job posting a few times, and prepared my questions to the SC.

I'd really appciate any tips or suggestions on how to prepare for administrative phone interviews. Thanks a lot.

expect anything.

Likely as not, there will be a committee, each of which has one carefully prepared question. There are some that are somewhat standard (describe your leadership style; describe how you handled a difficult employee; tell us how you would handle [insert some scenario] etc)

Keep the answers short and sweet, enjoy the silences....

good luck.

Do you know who the people who will be interviewing you are?  One tip I was given was to google/check the school website for those people and even possibly print out little pictures of them with brief bios so that when they ask questions you have a sense of who is asking what and imagine yourself speaking to that person face to face.

Whatever you do, don't agonize over it afterward, thinking of all the things you could have and should have and would have said.  Try to move on.
