Hello all,

Anyone out there applying to (or accepting an offer from) Khalifa U. in Abu Dhabi for this fall term?  If so, what field?  Are you happy with the interview/hiring process and offer?  When do you plan to be out there?  And where are you coming from?

Curiously yours,

Hi there,,
just found your post...
Yes I got the offer from Khalifa univ. in AD, for assist. prof in Physics..
generally I was not happy with the interview and also WITH THE COMMUNICATION WITH THEM so far.... but I got some feedback from other people saying they are NEW univ. so expected to be slow in everything...
what about you?
which process are you now?

I am considering an offer for prof assistant in engineering at Kustar, Sharjah (I need to reply quite soon acutally!). I've been offered 15.5k+10.5kDhs (salary+allow) and I'm not convinved yet if this is a good salary? Any comments on this, based on your experience?
Thanks

I would probably stay away from KUSTAR at this stage as it will be full of hard times especially as a start up. The Sharjah branch is the old Etisalat College and it does not have a good reputation. The pay and the allowance are also suspect.

Please note that for jobs in Abu Dhabi, an allowance of 126,000 is not nearly enough for middle class housing. You would need 200-250,000 at this time for a decent flat. Places like ZU, HCT, UAEU, supply housing. Without it, a position is a no go.
