I see blue sky and the alien. We had some rain earlier but mostly it has been a nice day............ which I have, of course, spend indoors grading dissertations and attending meetings.

Is someone suggesting that the bright round yellow thing is an alien? It seems to have take up long term residence here - surely the UK equivalent of a "green card" should be issued!

What bright yellow thing? It's grey and overcast here.

Although, just for a change, they're not refusing to go down into the tunnels in the hottest week of the year . . . not that I've ever seen their problem; they're actually guaranteed a seat and won't be standing with their nose in somebody's armpit in conditions that are illegal for cattle!

Hey... you want all the excitement and culture you can get by living in London. Some of us prefer fewer challenges in life!

With the work load I've got this semester, the closest I'm getting to culture is the Greek yoghurt in my fridge.

I'm sitting outside in my back garden drinking wine and considering a back stabbing so-and-so from my department. Not terribly warm, admitttedly. Here, anyone know what the expression "wearing a peaked cap" means?

Two of the great lakes have appeared in the village. We've tentatively named them Michigan and Superior.

I know we don't work in the same department because it would have to be "backstabbing so-and-sos" in the multiple. And, gee, I don't know - I've always found that kind of contemplation got the circulation going and warded off the chill. Here, anyone know what the expression "wearing a peaked cap" means?
No, but I do know what "the sun has got his hat on means"...
