A free link to the article is the norm, otherwise your post makes no sense.

I'm assuming you have read and are familiar with the article, or at least interested in the subject, otherwise you wouldn't bother to read this post. Am I wrong?

Don't assume. You know what that does.

Yes. If you take a look at the other threads in this category, you'll see that links to the articles are almost always present. That way, you can draw attention to the article, and responses can be more precise.

The OP doesn't like posting links.
It's a recurring theme.

Yes, you are wrong. I (and I suspect lots of others) read new threads as part of a routine, hoping to stumble on something interesting. Given that the Chronicle posts many articles, it is good practice to tell us which one you are talking about and make it easy for us to find it.

But if we know which article the above refers to, we might disagree with the flawless argument the OP has presented.

I have no idea what the OP is referring to, so I'm against it. Fiercely. I am even including the Angry icon. The Fiona P. S. Eureka! I think I have found the article: http://chronicle.com/free/2009/06/19271n.htmIf not, you can respond to this article anyway. Or not. It's up to you. I won't be mad. I really won't be.

I'm assuming you have read and are familiar with the article, or at least interested in the subject, otherwise you wouldn't bother to read this post. Am I wrong? Yes, you are wrong. If you browse the forum (like many of us do) using the "Show unread posts since last visit" option, what one sees is a thread with the intriguing title "Spy on students" of course we'll click on it without reading an article (or even knowing that it is about an article). Post the damn link when you start a thread in this category. - DvF

Fiona, thanks for the link.
The Act as people were interpreting it was spinning off some interesting technology, such as a remote exam proctoring cam that could monitor a whole room at once and check for audio cheating. I hope this technology continues to be developed. - DvF
