As long as you don't reward her for being a drama queen, she'll figure it out.  It takes some dogs longer than other, that's all.  Heck, it takes some owners longer than others.  I've been taking classes with pink_puppy for a year now, and she's definitely gotten a lot better.  The key is consistency and practice and patience.

Nope, I ignored the pathetic panting.  Heck, she wasn't whining today, which is an improvement!  (I ignore the whining too.)

There is crazy in the air at our house - young dog is in full out spaz mode for reasons we can not begin to figure out - and it was not Halloween - we were out so no trick or treaters - apperantly, according to our neighbors there were none in the neighborhood at all even though they were home with candy.  So anyway, young dog (who will be 3 this spring) is either operating at full speed hyper, pay attention to me now, I'm underfoot, can I sit on you, hello there! hi! Squirell! hi! mode or - out cold asleep.  Seriously, there is no in between.  I had to put him outside so I could cook dinner.  He isn't acting sick, just hyper and attention starved.  No change in diet or schedule.  He has just gone insane! It is exhausting.

Right now he is asleep next to the boyo who is watching TV.  Big dog just came and sat by me with a heavy sigh and looked at young dog, then turned to me with a look that said "Oh my God, do somethign or I swear I am going to kill him."

Do dogs react to full moons?  We've just ended a major, totally bright full moon.  It's been nuts around here.

The "crazy" in the air may be the cooling temperatures. (I don't kow what the weather is where you are, Rowan, but Halloween gave us a 30-degree-F drop in temperature around here.)  Biopuppy becomes a whole lot more energetic when the temperature falls below 60F in the daytime.  We have yet to see our first snowflake of the season but I'm braced for the full-out canine ADHD episode that will be precipitated by the first real snow.

Whatever the conditions are, something is making my crew crazy as he!!.  One of them got up on the table yesterday and ran around in circles, sending everything flying in all directions.  Every ten minutes or so, they all race outside barking and barking and barking.  They're usually nuts to a point, but it's been much worse the last couple of days.

Maybe I should wrap them up in puppy snuggies so they can't move.

Pink_puppy has been annoying as all-get-out the last few days.  She won't chew her toys or bones, but she will chew every emery board, eraser, and stray q-tip in the house!  (She is usually pretty well-behaved).

Yeah!  That too.  When I got home last night, the house was littered with chewed-up pens.  I don't even know where they got hold of them.

Later, I was relaxing with the crossword, got distracted for like two seconds, and when I got back the puppy had absolutely destroyed my pencil.

Whatever it is, I hope it's over soon.

My gang was nuts this morning as well.  The cats were yelling at each other and the dog camped out on the couch, watching in bemusement.  She also kenneled without complaint or trouble today, so something is definitely off!  (Whatever it is for her, I'll take more, please!)

All is quiet here in MyCity.  Kitties are calm, doggies are well-behaved.  Whatever it is hasn't reached my corner of the world, and I'd like to keep it that way!

And, best of all, White Dog seems to have recovered from his ordeal.  Because of the loss of muscle mass, he still can't stand, let alone walk, which means he still wears Serenity urinary pads and must always have a Wee-Wee Pad under him (for the other kind of waste)--but in all other ways he seems pretty much back to his happy self.  My sister keeps saying that he'll outlive us all.  (Given that he's already 15, that seems unlikely, but her point is well-taken.)

Infopri, that's great news!  I hope White Dog is able to move a little better every day and get enough muscle back on his bones to be able to move about easily.

Hmmmm . . . maybe there really is something to this full moon stuff. The dogs at the animal shelter were definitely a bit off-kilter last night. There was a Chihuahua, who too small to safely leash, so I picked her up to carry her outside to the dog park. Once we got to the dog park, she ran around me in circles around me for about five minutes. I suppose that's not too strange for a Chihuahua, but the really weird thing is that she didn't want me to pick her up when it came time to go back inside, she didn't want me to pick her up. There was no other way to get her back inside, so I eventually had to pick her up anyway and ended up with scratches (nothing serious) on one of my arms.

Info, glad to hear that WhiteDog is doing better.

Mg - you are repeating, you are repeating yourself.  Full Moonitis

OK, Young dog has either worn himself completely out or just settled down.

Big dog was most uncuddly last night - she stole my covers, at least pinned them down with her great weight so I couldn't pull them around me. And then kept hitting my book out of my hand with her paw.  Finally she just farted and so was told to leave.

Very sad look of reproachfullness at the unfairness of humans.  Young dog has burrowed his way under the boyo's bed and is sleeping soundly.  I am still not sure how he manages to fit himself under there.

Small setback for White Dog.  He can't do his business outside because he can't stand up, so he's wearing Serenity urinary pads (held in place by a wrap that goes around his abdomen, thus holding his male parts, and closing with generic-branded Velcro) and I keep a fresh Wee-Wee Pad underneath him to catch any poop.  This works well when I'm home, because he whimpers immediately upon pooping, and I can clean it all up before he soils himself in it.

Today, I wasn't home when The Moment came.

I got him cleaned up (have I ever mentioned that White Dog has LONG hair?), and the carpet (even with two pads arranged for maximum carpet coverage, he got the poop all over in his attempt to scoot away from the pile), and me--and now we're both exhausted.  He has an extremely expressive face, and I don't need a translator to see that he's very tired and unhappy at the moment.

And here I thought I'd avoided all this diaper mess by not having any children...

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about this setback, Infopri.  Sending positive thoughts to White Dog.
