Hi, all,

Any Denverians/Boulderese who could answer this? I am organizing a small meeting (~30) people in Broomfield in July, right before a bigger national meeting in the same location. I am trying to figure out how to get everyone from DIA to Broomfield in an affordable way. Suppershuttle seems the way to go.

Here's the problem. Supershuttle universally sucks. I am now in Denver for another meeting. Everyone involved in the trip--the ticket agent at the airport, the 800 number, the driver--were rude, surly and unhelpful, but, as a bonus, they were demonstrably incompetent. And I have been screwed/stranded by Supershuttle in Seattle, DC, etc. Anywhere there's Supershuttle, there's lousy service. I had to wait 3 hours--as long as my flight--for a DIA-Boulder shuttle last year.

Question: Are there alternatives to Supershuttle to Broomfield/Boulder from DIA? RTD isn't really going to work, because the hotel is in the middle of nowhere (Nice hotel, nice people). Cabs and rental cars are out of the question. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Oh, and anyone up for starting a national boycott of Supershuttle?

TB,

Unless you like paying exorbitant fares to cabbies then you've really only got Super Shuttle or have to run your own service with maybe a rental van from one of the big car rental companies.

Personally I've had plenty of experience with SuperShuttle and only one has been poor. My last return to DIA was horribly delayed because of a bad snowstorm. I was ready to get home and SS was only way to do that without paying $100+ to a taxi driver. Unfortunately the first SS guy I found refused to take me to my home because it was too dangerous according to him. He gladly assisted 4-5 other folks with their bags and everything so they could go to a Downtown hotel, but no way was he gonna risk driving just 10 minutes more to drop me off at my home. Ultimately, I waited another 20mins and found another SS driver that was the best guy ever and was more than happy to take me home and for the flat rate of $35, as is usual for SS door to door service.

Super shuttle is uber sucky.  Not the way to go.

I would recommend having people take RTD to the stop in Broomfield, and then having an independent shuttle from there.  (Have a person rent a van for a day and have the people call when the bus drops them off).

Alternatively, you could just do the rental van thing doing runs straight from the airport.  You just need one person with the spare time.

I think that might happen--I might rent a mini-van, and make a few trips to and from DIA. I pondered the RTD option, which I use all the time when I go to downtown Boulder, but the Broomfield P&R lot is pretty far from the hotel (a bit too far to ask the hotel shuttle to pick 'em up, which they would if the P&R was a bit closer).

I think we'll go with a combination of Supershuttle and a couple of minivans. Thanks all for your advice!
