I thought P.D. Lesko's post "The Six Musketeers" (http://chronicle.com/jobs/blogs/onhiring/985) was really well done. I appreciate useful suggestions derived from experience and without the "woe is me" attitude, however justified it may be.

I like the discussions here in the fora, but why are the comments on the CHE blogs so invariably awful? P.D. Lesko's piece makes for a nice blog post, but most comments consist of whining that he didn't conduct an impossibly massive study in order to supply statistical evidence. It's a blog post, people!

My own opinion of the piece was that it didn't really bring up anything that was glaringly obvious to adjuncts or other faculty in the first place.

I think many people (including me) were looking to read something new or little-known. Or at the very least, quantifying the points mentioned in the blog.
