No, no. The grading fairy only comes in the spring! When you have to have grades in for graduation for half a million folks. Otherwise we would never appreciate her/him.

I have been putting off grades, but I got them done. I figured out I needed a different venue. I pulled my rocking chair into the living room, sat in front of the Christmas tree and a lit fireplace, and graded like crazy.

I will say it was easier to grade than I had hoped because so many of the questions were answered with blanks... but it is done.

I hope the cookies and Bailey's helped the rest of you.

It's helping, yes.  Down to the last few items.  :)

I need a rocking chair, but I find the fire and the tree to be helpful, too.

I'm getting some stuff done--at least what I aimed to do this evening. Nearly finished 2 sections of final exams. But I think I'm going to pick up the Bailey's or some vino for the grading fairy tomorrow, just in case she decides to make an early appearance...

One pile of papers done, and not an A among them. But the first one in the second pile is good! It has an analysis and smart insights! Not sure it's an A yet, but still . . . an analysis! Smart insights! Wow.

I hope it's not plagiarized.

Second paper: also smart and insightful! I forgot that this bunch of students is generally much better than the other one. Thank god.

7 projects to go and then the peer evals!  Woo hoo!

But...I'm starting to make some massive math mistakes, so I think it's time to put a fork in the gradebook for tonight and pick up tomorrow.  But this was a really peaceful, productive grading party.  Thank you for the company and the moral support - I wish I'd visited before this weekend!

HEY! It's awfully quiet in here.

Just trying to wrap up as much as possible of my final exam grading.

I have approximately 167 more short essays to go.

167? Good lord.

Back to essay pile #2 this morning, and so far I have 3 As! And a B+, and a paper with A-quality analysis that sadly provided almost no evidence. And there are more excellent papers coming in this batch. What a relief. The other group can barely form sentences.

I am DONE. Grades turned in, spreadsheets closed. Time from my submission of grades to first student email inquiring about one of said grades: one hour, fifteen minutes. Whatever. I'm on vacation.

With all of my new leisure time I baked some goodies and brewed up a fresh pot of coffee for everybody who's still grading. Hang in there, gang. The end is in sight!
