Y'know, for the sake of accuracy.
This was a 'don't know whether to laugh or cry' example. Student conducts experiment on geotaxis and one other stimulus in flatworms. Student's own control experiment results weren't what she expected (but were what I expected, as it happens), so she decided to throw them out, while not throwing out the experimental data set:
"The data of the control shows that Planaria favor the upper half of the tube. This does not coincide with reality. "

I'm fascinated that the results of the control group do "not coincide with reality." What, one wonders, do they coincide with? If your fledgling scientist has been exploring alternate universes, she is wasting time with planaria!

Unfortunately, I think conjugate gives good advice.

This makes me very happy. Planaria are also pretty down with a split-level duplex in the 'burbs, but she's not advanced enough to know this yet. The knowledge would be a burden.

Hey! I changed the title of my post in that other thread.
Today begins with:
[Author] shows us that there is always a group of people that feels superior, no matter their skin color nor that they are human.
I hate when the non-humans try to pass themselves off as people.

In discussing a book about human sexuality from the anthropological perspective:
When she talks about artificial insemination on page xx she mentions something about an artificial vagina. What would that be used for? I just don't understand how that affected the way people breaded animals.
I have to say, truthfully, that I have no idea how an artificial vagina relates to a flour mixture for lifestock. But I am a city girl at heart, after all.

I think it's something they do in Bangkok. I can't say more without getting censored by the mods.

Thankfully, before turning in the paper I'm working on I just caught the following typo "the contested meaning of meaning." I need to omit that second "meaning." I may be in the humanities, but I'm now that meta-.

The automatism in this novel manifests itself when the protagonist finds himself in diverse situations that have a rational purpose.
So many big words, so little understanding of what they mean.

"B.F. Skinner is often looked at as the founder of behavioral psychology, which was founded off of his critiques of Freud's principals, which he found to be potentially harmful to a person due to their inability to see more within an individual."
Later in the same essay: "Based upon previous readings that question the build of genetic make-up in the role of development of self, and findings in my thesis, where people who experience abuse and are surrounded by criminality have the chance to live a healthy and happy life, this simple breakdown of what makes up a person leaves me with more questions than answers."
I teach graduate students, by the way.

Good lord. Someone's graduate students have learned how to use the "thesaurus" function. To ill effect, but still. I do love thinking about Freud's "principals." I'm thinking they have whips and other kinds of disciplinary measures.

Breaded or bred, I don't understand what the student was trying to say at all. I do love thinking about Freud's "principals." I'm thinking they have whips and other kinds of disciplinary measures.
Carl Jung would probably say they were collectively unconscious.

After reading that sentence, I also have more questions than answers. For example... huh??

And here we go...
"With the implementation of positive women in Professional jobs the opportunities for girls to get better jobs and become better educated are going to be more available for the next generation of girls."
Random capitalization included for your enjoyment.
My question is about those negative women...what are THEY going to do for us?

They are helping those in the alternate reality where frogfactory's plenaria live. You know, those of us at the University in Negative Space.
