I'm teaching online for the first time this semester, and am requiring students to take online quizzes.  Right now I have the system configured so that they may take each quiz twice, and keep the highest grade.   Ideally, I would like for the system to show students which questions they got wrong on the first attempt, but not the correct answers, and then to provide them with the correct answers along with their results on the second attempt.  Right now, however, it seems like I can only configure the system so that students are NEVER given the correct answers OR that they are given the correct answers with their results for both attempts (which allows them to game the system, not even trying the first time around, and then just using the answers the system provides on the second attempt).  Can anyone suggest a way around this?    (I tried emailing IT about this, but the person who responded didn't seem to understand my question, and he hasn't emailed me back after I tried once more to clarify what was happening.)

Thanks for your help.

I can only do something similar to this for Multiple Choice type questions. In my WebCT version of Blackboard, under More Options, Results Properties uncheck the box for "Show student's response for each question". Then, you will want to ensure the "Show the feedback for each question" is checked. In the feedback box for the correct response, you will want to put the complete question with the correct answer. Unfortunately, if they get it wrong the 2nd  time, it won't show the correct answer.

Alternatively, you can create two identical quizzes (first attempt quiz AND second attempt quiz). You put a requirement for completing the first attempt quiz as a gradebook criteria not blank for taking the second attempt. Then, also put a gradebook criteria of greater than the first attempt quiz on the second attempt quiz. Unfortunately, I don't recall how Blackboard treats those who get perfect scores on the first attempt quiz on the second attempt quiz.
