Hello there,

Am totally new to this! I have submitted 14 onliine application to the UAE, rejected once and screened successfully a number of times.  I have a masters, am an academic consultant in ed design, speak 4 language and desperately need a change.  Hvae never worked in the emirates but want to give it a go.  I have no networks there at all an would like some human contact given all my applications have been screened by ghosts in the machine.

I would be greatful for any advice, tips, contacts please.

Elle9, perhaps you will get better information on this forum than on the other where you posted a similar query.  That said--

The lack of a Ph.D. is crippling in many fields.  What is your field, if you are willing to specify?  Is obtaining a terminal degree in your primary field an option; if not, why not?  Or is your primary field one in which "a masters" (MA or MFA) is considered a terminal dregree?

The lack of teaching experience is also crippling in many disciplines.  Do you have recent experience in the classroom?  If not, is there any way you can obtain at least some (adjuncting, etc.) in your present location, to bolster your other credentials?

Are the ghosts in cahoots with the aliens?

Did you really think different people would read the two threads?

I would point out that while the typing has improved, the syntax has not, but I am really here for the sales pitch.

I am a little confounded by the nit picking- I thought this was supposed to be a forum for discussion and not a granma (intentional) lesson. I am new to this so apologies for any offence committed.

Oh I see- if I use the spell check all will be well!  Too used to txtng.

Yes, Granma tends to be quite intentional.

As opposed to poppycock, which often occurs despite the best of intentions.

What, another popcorn reference.  Poppycock comes complete with nuts already and it leaves a sticky residue.

Since you've never worked in the Emirates, and have no contacts there, why is it the focus of your job search?
