I am so tired of seeing "Must be Bilingual" or "Spanish a Must" when I am searching for a job.  I am noticing that I meet all the required job related skills except that I am not bilingual.  Why should I be required to speak Spanish? I live in America not Mexico or any other country whose native language is Spanish.  There are many languages across the world yet we are only concerned about Spanish. If any other language is required then we should be required to know every language across the world. How is it fair to us as American citizens who are born here and the ones who become American citizens (who have to learn English to become a US citizen) to be required to speak any other language to get a job in our own COUNTRY???  For some reason illegal immigrants come to our country and work, don't pay any taxes (beacuse they are illegal), are too lazy to learn our language, take jobs from us yet we have to learn their language. HOW IS THAT FAIR? Or even better, when I drive through a fast food resturant I have to listen very carefully to their broken English to make sure they are saying my order correctly. I thought we lived in the United States of America but maybe our country should change its name to "Estados Unido de America!

(Remember the tx: The same here, there are many francophones. And we are very happy to speak with them.

For example, myself, I guide tours for visitors in French. They appreciate my efforts to welcome them and to explain what is significant in our town, which was so important in the history of this country.)

Geez, with the time and energy spent ranting about this, you could just go ahead and learn Spanish.  It's pretty easy as languages go.

This is kind of like saying, "Why does every job require computer skills?"  It's just a commonly requested qualification for employment.  Like everybody else, you just go out and obtain the needed skill to make you more employable.
