Interview Notification - Student Affairs Programs

Hello again. I have a situation and was wondering if anyone else was in/had been in a similar position. See, I've applied to grad schools for student affairs programs where the assistantship is an integral part of the program; in fact, it's so integral that if you don't get the assistantship, you don't get into the program. Because of this they require "candidates" (people who have been conditionally accepted to the program) to interview at the school on a specific weekend.
One of the schools I've applied to has it's interview days scheduled for the 3rd week in February, and I've heard NOTHING from them. Now I realize that the process takes time, but the closer we get to the actual date the higher the price the airfare goes and the more likely it is that I won't get a plane ticket. As I live 3,000 miles away from the school, flying is my only option. And I know some people are thinking "You haven't even gotten in yet," but I prefer to think positive. In any case, what have other people done with only a few weeks left on the clock? Have you called? Should I call? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

One of the schools I applied to reimburses students for travel. In fact, when I visited campus last fall, before I'd even applied, they paid for a shuttle to the airport and told me to keep my receipts for reimbursement after I applied - no mention of actually having to get accepted in order to get refunded (although I kind of think that might have been what they meant). Maybe your school will pay? Not sure what is typical.

I know first-hand that many programs of this type do not notify people who don't make the short list until after all the interviews have been finished and the accepted candidates get their offers. It might make sense to call and just find out if, in fact, you did not get an interview. At least then you would know.
