Inspired by threads such as "all things uterine" etc., I wanted to post here and ask if anyone has any experience with vestibulitis (or vulvodynia). I've had it for a couple of years now and it's been pretty depressing at times. What really has gotten me down is the quality of healthcare that I've received from some of the world's most ignorant doctors (note: and they were all women!) I know that it's a difficult issue to discuss for most women, due to stigma so please do post with a sock puppet if you want to, as I have. (I would post under my real handle but sadly I know several posters IRL who although nice do not need to know this much about my life! ;) ) Have you had any experience with various treatments, such as physical therapy, anti-depressants, a low oxalate diet etc? How have they worked for you? How was your vv diagnosed, and how has your experience with ob-gyns been?

For those of you who are lucky enough not to know what this is, a link:

It's a small kingdom but someone's got to rule it.

Hi SP,

I haven't had vestibulitis but I've seen friends and patients go through it. It sounds awful - I'm sorry you have to deal with it. My impression is that the best way to get truly informed, state-of-the-art care is to go to a vulvar-vaginal pain clinic, usually found at a teaching/university hospital. Is there one near you?

Take care!
