Glad to hear there was no cancer, gennimom.
So the consensus is the pill is worth trying? I'm not sure why I've always been so skeptical.
Just to add one more positive anecdote: I used to get horrible cramps every month along with heavy bleeding; two Advils would at least control it to the point where I could function and didn't feel so nauseated, but it was never pleasant. Since I went on the pill (about four years ago now), the bleeding is lighter, and more importantly, the cramps are pretty much gone. I usually get just tiny bit of the "pre-cramping" feeling (what used to send me running for the painkillers to head off much worse to come), but even that goes away after a couple of hours.

Wet_Blanket, I'd say that the consensus is at least "it's worth a try - YMMV." For those of us for whom it worked, it worked really well, and for those whom it didn't work it doesn't seem to have been a horrible emergency-room-visit-inducing failure.
Good luck
Oh, and my rater late sympathies to Mr. Llanfair. I don't need to have outdoor plumbing to know that had to hurt.

"Outdoor plumbing" - I love it! I'll pass on your condolences. He'll like being Mr Llanfair.

I'm just marking my place in this thread so I'll have something to read between now and the beginning of next week, when I'm scheduled for an endometrial biopsy. This is a pretty good indication of how rotten I've been feeling lately: when the nurse read off the doctor's instructions for follow-up tests, I was pretty damn happy about the biopsy. I've been worrying all week about ovarian cancer, since I'm in a high-risk group (my sister had it). Endometrial problems, I think I can handle. I just had a normal pap return, so even if it's cancer and not something more simple, it can't have spread very far.
Anyway, I'm just killing time this week.

I'm upsetting myself because we're due for snow and sleet all day Friday when I'm supposed to have my hysteroscopy, and I'm worrying about having someone pick me up afterwards, making her be out on the roads. And I'm really depressed again.

Stanwyck and Elsie, I'll be thinking of you both and sending calming and comforting vibes, and best wishes for good outcomes.
Elsie, try not to look ahead too much; you can't change the weather, no matter how much you worry. I know about anxiety, and how debilitating it can be - hang in there and breathe. This too shall pass.

My stomach hurts, I left things I need at home, my TA hasn't returned last week's tests to me and two of my classes today will be on diagramming sentences.

Did I mention here that I had to reschedule my hysteroscopy on account of the 'snowmageddon'? It's scheduled for this Friday now.

My system is clearly resetting from Implanon mode to Depo mode. Gah. I can't remember the last time I had cramps, and I did not miss them.
Elsie - I'll be thinking of you. My CT's (not a uterine issue, other end) been put back by the snow too, though that's not nearly as big a deal.
Glad to read in the other thread that you're covered for getting to and from hospital and for the recovery period, even if you did have to recruit multiple people. Sickness really is much harder when one is single; you have my sympathy.

Sorry, Elsie, I'm feeling your pain (quite literally, I think). My biopsy today was rescheduled due to snow, as well. I'm really ready to feel better.

Ditto on the well being vibes. I can't imagine putting these things off, especially with not much to do except hunker down at home and ponder the procedure.

Chiming in with the good vibes for Elsie and Stanwyck.
My insco appears to be stalling on the Lupron. I'm fine with that as long as they're still willing to pay for my spay surgery. I'm calling the physician's office today to find out what the current situation is - haven't heard from the nurse in over a week now.

Sounds as tho' you might be able to cut to the chase, Biomancer. Hope things start moving soon - the holding pattern isn't fun.

Thanks for the thoughts, all. The next open slot for an endometrial biopsy isn't until Feb. 24. I know that's the best they can do, but still, that's a long time from now.
