<emerges from beneath ear defenders> The annoying thing is that there is no obvious cyst (having a quail's egg sized lump was a bit of a giveaway). I can still feel the gland opening (mainly as I stick the Daktacort all over the place to kill our itching friends), but I now just have an ache. Grrrrrrr.

<hands over rest of fizzy froggy muck and ibuprofen and codeine to d_g whose need is that much greater>
Now could somebody tell the cyst sites to shut up and stop acheing!
SHUT IT, CYSTS. We don't like your kind around here. Now scram! Thanks, SecretWeapon! Wegie, if the ibuprofen doesn't help, I'll happily pass you some naproxen - that usually works for me.

We can get ibuprofen and codeine OTC over here <smiles happily>. Discovering that ibuprofen and codeine was not OTC in the US was one of my more unhappy trips to NYC in the company of my very good friend the cramps.

Yeah... ^&*$ US pharma laws... but ibuprofen does nothing for me, and I don't tolerate codeine all that well, so naproxen is usually the best option for me anyway.

I remember when I went off the pill - the ensuing period was the heaviest in 9 years, and a gusher from the get-go. Be prepared ...
Thanks for the warning (I think) :-) Sorry, D_G - but better to be safely wadded up with protection than backing frantically towards the nearest exit, hands over posterior ... You are, of course, correct. <* scrambles to throw a few extra pads in the book bag pocket *> You are correct on both counts. Between that & the new & improved horrible cramps, I am chewing on nails. grumble grumble... This is one time when I'm sorry to be right, D_G. ((((HUGS))))

My sympathies to everyone dealing with cramps, etc...
I am sorry, this is going to be very graphic. After a month-long period and clean ultrasound (no thickening, no fibroids), I was put on birth control. It worked, but also made me feel awful. One week in, dr. changed prescription and told me to just start a new pack and keep going with the new one, to go a few extra days without bleeding. Fast-forward to next period. I figured it might be bad with some extra buildup. It was HORRIBLE! Blinding pain with cramps. Then, something came out – definitely not a blood clot. Solid. Fibrous. Like a piece of raw chicken. At least 2 ounces, may be 3. Cramps stopped. Bladder problems that plagued me for the last 2-3 months stopped. I know I should have kept the thing to biopsy, but – I was at work, and half-mad with pain, so it’s gone. What the %$#* was that?? Yes, I have an appointment with dr., but he's been pretty useless so far...

I'm prepared to lay large amounts of money on that being a previously undetected fibroid, entwife. I would also urge you to move that appointment up the emergency chain, like right now.

Yikes, Entwife! I second Wegie's suggestion to get in to a doctor in a hurry - and I'd like to add that I think you need a new doctor. A fibroid that big (or whatever it was) should not have been missed by competent care providers.

<* gratefully accepts all offers of pain killers and beverages *>
Entwife, get thee to a better doctor, pronto. My first thought was not a fibroid, but still, something that large should have been seen on the U/S.

Chime, Entwife. You may need a hysteroscopy at the very least, so a GYN can see what's going on there. Get that ball rolling!

Thanks all for tolerating the disgusting details! The appointment actually is today, so we shall see... about hysteroscopy, it was actually my fault - they asked if I wanted to do this (after telling me that the ultrasound was clean) and I said no because, well, no object have ever successfully travelled that route... I also never had any problems normally cause by fibroids, until this summer. Nothing weird at all! WTF!?!?
OK, just noticed this is my 100th post. How pathethic is that?

Entwife, could have been a fibroid on a stalk--theoretically possible and they can get choked off when they get twisted around. I don't know about passing one but seems theoretically possible. Good luck!
