My focus of engineering is designing higher education organizations with respect to diversity. By nature, ISyE (and my doctoral work) are multidisciplinary. My doctoral work looks at the climate within Colleges of Engineering to understand why there is a dearth of faculty of color.

For the OP: neither your field of study nor your dissertation is engineering.
Didn't we have that discussion upthread? Isn't that where I was accused of some sort of nebulous thought crime in terms that no self-respecting engineer would ever use because only the care bears in liberal arts studies think those accusations mean anything?
I'm still waiting to hear how the retreats turned out. I hope the participants didn't injure the OP in their mad dash to the door.
I'm still confused about the idea that engineering faculty aren't diverse. True, few people are African American, Navajo, or women, but in terms of straight-up numbers of people who are not white men between the ages of 35 and 55, the engineering departments I have been looking at lately are pretty diverse in terms of ethnic background readily apparent by names or photos.
