Hi, Niceday,

Thanks for the heads up.  I was thinking a lot about this guarantied shared risk program, too.  If my first IVF does not work and I had to take a few months off and during that time, I got pregnant on my own, do I get the money back?  These and others are questions I need to ask them.  I'm writing all the questions I can down before proceeding, but they will put me through all the tests before they decide so I have time.

Frankly, after three and a half years of trying, I am pretty desperate and I don't even care if I overpay so long as I get a baby (or two).  I may end up paying close to 30K, but if it succeeds, I will worry about paying it later.

What's another 30K on top of my other school loans and the mortgage, right?  Pile it on, world!  I just won't retire!  And, not to mention, if IVF works, more educational loans for the kid(s), too!  Whew!  Blows my mind away.

Hiddendragon:

"Guarantee" programs are often tailored to admit only those that the clinic is pretty sure will get pregnant quickly.

Hi everyone -- not sure if anyone is still around all of this time later, but if so, I was kind-of wondering how it all turned out! I'm a VAP on the job market right now (my term ends in May) and I am going to be starting IVF in 4 days. I am so worried about teaching while undergoing IVF. I teach a 4-4. I'm also totally freaked out about what would happen if I get an offer AND get pregnant the first try. I know -- two dreams coming true at once is an awesome thing, but also rather tricky. It would mean that I'm due in late October. My RE really thinks it is imperative that I start IVF THIS month... It has definitely left me feeling rather lost and confused!

And if a meteorite hit your house, that would be tricky and would leave you feeling lost and confused too.
:-)
My point is simply that it's pointless to worry. I'm not making a comparison between the relative likelihood of a meteorite hitting your house vs. both your dreams coming true simultaneously--I'm just saying, what the heck is the point of worrying about either? Just do what you gotta do, and deal with what comes up. No one ever died because their baby's due date was at an inconvenient time. Whatever happens will in all likelihood be imperfect in at least some respects, so you roll with the punches and life goes on.

Thank you so much for that. I was just printing out my syllabi for my classes that start today... Thinking of which dosiers I need to send out later... Agonizing over the IVF decision and what *might* happen... And, then I saw your post and started laughing! It's exactly what I needed to hear... Thank you.

Hi niceday,

Thanks for sharing a brief decription of IVF treatment. Before visiting your post, i never knew this much on IVF.. It could be really helpful for those who are off their age on conceiving.
