I recently accepted a position with Zayed University in Abu Dhabi. In the course of exchanging information about by academic duties prior to taking up my post in January it became clear that there were some serious (though probably honest) misunderstandings in the course of the interview and negotiation process. Does anyone have any insights regarding this school and what it is like teaching there?

I had a friend who worked there for a few years.  She was very positive about the university, faculty and staff.  I am not sure what that is worth to you friends at other UAE institutions also speak well of Zayed compared to say HCT

You need to be more specific about the misunderstandings.  Zayed has an excellent reputation, but the administration side of all local universities is not as transparent as in the US.
