I would like to know what others have to say about American University Dubai. I cannot seem to find much information about the university online (perhaps because it’s a recently founded institution).

Comments about its reputation, what it is like to work there, faculty, etc. would be greatly appreciated!

I have been a professor over at AUD. I can give you the "behind the scenes" like no other.
This place is pureely established for making $$, mula, dinero, whatever you might wanna call it. It basically should be LUD (Labenese University in Dubai). This University is run by the Labenese people. Nothing workng with that but, these so-called players, try therir best to hire labenese staff and professors and look down upon every other nationality. Once a good Labenese friend of mine in College told me, Labenese are the most racist nation,..now I know. Anywho, most of the full-time professors are incompetent...don;t have the right degree to teach the course they are teaching. The HR manager is a B.A. in engluigh for  AUB for crying out loud. Most of the players calling the shots here are related and hire their relations. I dont want to use names so I will abstain from doing that. The students are mostly brats from neighboring countries and pay theuir way to good grades...I'm dead serious. The quality of eductaion at this University sickens me. Most of the faculty members try to keep straight faces abd do as told just to keep their jobs. I would not recommend anyone seriously looking for good education, to waste time with this institution. I can go on and disclose a lot of evil but I think I should stop here.

...My suggestion would be AUS or University of Wollongong.

I will also chime in with "iwilltellyou" that AUD's reputation is less than stellar, at least from the reports I've gathered. One of the sure-fire ways to verify the credentials of any given university in the Gulf is to check the faculty profiles. Are they publishing regularly in their fields? Are they attending international conferences? Origin/field of degrees?

Yup,

I heard alot of bad things about American University Dubai. Lebanization policy for hiring plus the quality of the student's is poor. Any one who can't make it to better schools in UAE goes there. Some have even said it's a total joke..

Just out of curiosity, how much would a dean of student services at AUD typically be paid?

I spent several years at AUD.

Talk about the students being brats is malicious or in bad faith at best.  The students I had there, as well as elsewhere in the Middle East and Latin America can hold their own against any against middle level SLAC in the US.

As for Lebanese being racist--that itself is a racist stereotype comment.
