OK, curly mop-tops and those with wonderful waves: what do you use to tame your tresses and bring out the best of your lovely locks? Everytime I find a product I like to enhance my waves, it get discontinued. Bleah. I'm in search of new stuff, so please share products reviews. What I used to use: Wella Liquid Hair Redken Fresh Curls- the cream in the bottle

I have really curly hair, really curly. Here's what I do:
I don't brush it (maybe once or twice a month in the shower). This allows the curls to form in nice ringlets.
When I get out of the shower, I lightly towel dry it, and then put a dab of Aussie Deep conditioner all through it. Then I use Aussie Mousse all through it. As it dries (takes forever with thick hair), I scrunch it otherwise the curls are stiff.
Now, I've experimented with lots of mousses. I see absolutely no point in buying the expensive stuff that they sell at my hairdresser's place because they don't work they way I want them to anyway. I also recommend Suave mousse, but I have to use twice as much to get the same result. Now, these mousses are alcohol-based-- some people don't like that, but it hasn't ever damaged my hair and leaves no ill effects that I (or my hairdresser) can see.

Sometimes, in desperation, I water down a bit of gel and slather it on. Sure, it's a tad crunchy, but that's better than my huge clown hair look. I do like the Aussie stuff and some of the other drugstore brands--I have long hair and use these products in bulk.

I sympathize, inthelab. I've gone through a number of products that keep disappearing from the shelves.
Right now I've been pretty happy with Rusk's Wired, a thick-ish texturizing cream. It works well whether I air-dry or blow-dry with a diffuser. I like it much better than a mouse, but then my hair is on the looser side of curly.
Before that I had been using Charles Worthington's Texture Cream (or something like that). That was good, too, but I can't find it around here anymore, although I can find other CW products.

I have very wavy-to-curly hair and I do hardly anything. I like for it to be wavy. I do have a detangling comb, which enhances ringletting; in fact, I have a number of these. You have to get them at a beauty supply store but they're really worth it. I rarely brush my hair, like Balancing_act. My hair also is color treated, so I use Redken products, but once a week I use Biolage deep conditioner, and sometimes (on the other end of the spectrum) I use VO-5 Smoothing conditioner (which costs, on a bad day, $1.19 for a huge bottle).

Yeah, I remember that CW product. Can't find any 'round these part. Don't see much Rusk either. Mousse doesn't seem to support my waves enough. I don't have the waviest hair so I need something that encourages waves but doesn't leave my hair crunchy. I don't mind spending extra if the product works. Right now I'm using the new gel from Nexxus, Alluring Curls. It's OK, only.

I also used a Therma Silk cream and a Dove cream, all of which were discontinued, which burns me up. I prefer these creams over gels or mousses. I have very curly yet very fine hair. I started using Frederic Fekkai's Luscious Curls Cream in humid weather. It's expensive, but you don't need much. When it's not humid, I use something called Smoothe by John Allan. I can't find any of this stuff where I live, so I buy it on the internet.

I saw reviews of the Fekkai stuff that weren't so good.
After I use up the Nexxus, I'm torn between Bumble & Bumble Curl Conscious Creme and Moroccanoil Curl Extreme. Both are pricey, but a little dab is supposed to do ya. When I tried Tresemme's line, I had to use so much of it, there was no savings in the end. The VO5 creme is for coarser hair than I have; made my hair sticky but labkid #2 loves it.
I find I need something of a creme texture, not to crisp out my hair. Gels leave me too crispy. Mousses leave me too soft. And even with the creme, I spray a curl reactivator to fix the waves in place.

I have very wavy hair with several severe cowlicks. When I wore it long I used coconut oil to keep it "down" and combat the frizz. Eventually I got fed up, and my hair is now short & spiky (less than an inch long). If I decide to grow it long again, I'm picking up more coconut oil, as it worked very well.

I cut my very long hair into a moderately conservative "long bob" at the end of the summer because it was too difficult to find the right hair products (that are not basically "waxing" your hair) to tame my hair anymore. I am still using a flat-iron to smooth and straighten.
The Bumble & Bumble looks good. I think I'll give it a go and forsake the hair-iron, evil invention that it is ;) and let the curls rip again.

I really liked the Bumble and Bumble cream, but if I used even a touch too much, it made my hair feel really greasy. Philip B's Lovin' Leave In is good, too--but I can't stand the scent. Garnier Fructis makes something called a smoothing milk, I think, that I also liked, but again, I couldn't stand the fruit scent.

Yeah, I just cut my bra-length hair to shoulder-rubbing modified layered bob. Oy the waves! But I still need something for support or they look like dreck after a day.

My hairstylist used to put ISO Bouncy Creme in my hair. I've also found some success with a Garnier Fructis curl cream I can't seem to locate right now. I haven't had a haircut since July (because of laziness), so it's about mid-back length, medium to thick, and more wavy than curly. Today I tried not putting any product in it, and it really doesn't look or feel all that different! I had been using a Bumble and Bumble leave in/rinse out conditioner, but it was actually making my hair feel more tangled.
