Didn't read the whole thread so I don't know if this was already suggested.  You can find cheap items at thrift stores that look brand new.

I bought a couple of large containers of maple syrup at Costco (accidentally double-bought), so I'll be making small containers of maple butter for people I *really* like this holiday, I've just decided.

Also, I have raspberry cordial working away in the cabinet.  Almost time to make my amazing eggnog, too!  (We like to give decadent, alcoholic gifts in my family.)
